Hi, It’s Minea here! I started with the Finders Seekers Employer Branding team at the end of March 2021. Now is a good time to stop, reflect, and document my ideas on my journey and role within the Finders Seekers’s EB team. But first I would love to share my story on how I became an employer branding pro.
Bravely following my own career path
In the Autumn of 2011 I moved from my home town of Lappeenranta to Helsinki to start my tertiary studies in HR and leadership. I chose marketing as my elective subject, and I remember more than one professor questioning my choice. To complement my HR studies, I was recommended that I take up calculus because I “might find myself working on salary and payroll tasks”. Despite some initial hesitation on my part, I stuck to my plan and decided to study exactly what I was most interested in at the time. I remember doubting myself on numerous occasions, questioning whether my joint marketing and HR skills would ever end up benefitting me in my future career.
These days I congratulate myself on following my instincts ten years ago, sticking to my interests, and bravely forging my own educational path. And it all paid off: in my current role I get to combine my expertise in recruitment, direct search, and marketing. Looking back, combining HR and marketing studies was not such a crazy idea after all. In fact, it’s pretty much the perfect launch pad for an EB professional, right?
Design sprints, data dashboards, marketing strategies: being an EB pro at Finders Seekers
In the Spring of 2021 I jumped straight into the deep end and I got straight into it by executing employer branding strategies for our key clients. My role is diverse, but I am especially responsible for marketing strategy, data-driven EB development, and the execution of digital marketing campaigns at international organisations for our clients.
Wow! What a way to get started in a new role. The learning curve over the past few months has been a steep one, and I feel like this same rapid pace is going to continue at our growing company.
We all work very closely here within Finders Seekers’s Employer Branding team, leveraging each other’s deep expertise in different areas of EB work. From my end, I have been involved in facilitating EVP workshops, design sprints, and creating end-to-end EB action plans. I have also designed career website renewals and built data tools to help my clients leverage career site analytics.
One of the best things about working at Finders Seekers is definitely the fact that my colleagues are some of the pioneers of the EB world in Finland, and that I get to daily share ideas and best practices with my team. I am especially excited by the fact that for the first time in my career I am able to have professional conversations with people who share my passion and vision of modern EB work that is based on genuine employee experience. We are constantly building on top of each other’s ideas and only the sky is the limit when it comes to where our reputation will take us one day!
Need for speed during my free time
The adrenaline rush of high-speed has always fascinated me. As a former alpine skier, I still get my kicks from a being a bit of a daredevil. I can still be found commandeering a jet ski or a snowmobile from time to time. I also still like to get back on my skis, and in the summer I enjoy going cycling. My speedy lifestyle is balanced out by frequent visits to my hometown of Lappeenranta. In the countryside, the lights and sounds of the city disappear for a moment and you get to be outdoorsy in nearby forests and relax in the lakeside sauna.
